  • FAQs

    • Is there a day hike I can take?

Yes, the easy to intermediate Oregon Dunes Loop Trail #1334 is open to day hikers. For the first half mile, the trail is paved. It will take you to picnic spots and a viewing area. After that point, the trail turns from pavement to natural ground. Those who continue will eventually find themselves at the dunes that lead to the beach.
    • Are there any restrictions I should know about?

There are a few rules and restrictions to be made aware of while visiting The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. You will not be allowed to visit the dry sand beach section from March 15 through September 15. That's to protect the snowy plover, which is nesting. During that same period, no dogs or kites are allowed in either the dry or wet sand beach sections. ATV's and electric bikes (E-bikes) are NOT ALLOWED on trails designated for non-motorized use such as mountain bike or hiking trails.
